Sandy, who was born the year we got married, had a fun party on Sunday for her birthday. They live in a condo on the shipping channel. Many things to see and do there. Fishing, of course, pool and spa, eating, drinking, talking. I didn't realize a condo place could be so nice, but keep in mind that I live in BFC -- the c is for Clare. Their view at night of the town and ferry landing is wonderful.

There were at least 5 guys at the sushi bar working hard. The 8 of us ate a ton of sushi, raw oysters (I haven't gone there yet) and pecan crusted oysters, misdo soup. The most surprisingly delicious for me was a very thin slice of raw salmon, rolled up, nothing else on it. It was sweet.

Random Thursday Night

After dinner last night we decided to go to the Dairy Queen in town and sit and watch the boats at the park. Then Javiar called and asked us to the Gaff for pizza as Kim and Ellen were leaving on Friday. They live in S. Dakota in the summer as he has something to do with the wheat crop there. From Labor Day to April 1 they live in their beach house down here. Ellen's parents and other family live here too.

So lots of friends there, we have some pizza, and fun. Talk about Friday nights entertainment, meet the kids, Kendal 23, and her hubby Brady, 35. Eight of us are going in a limo to Corpus to the House of Rock to hear three bands, on of which is Cody Angel's Band. Kendal was worried she would have to be good so Paul and I wouldn't be offended. Yes, I do offend so easily. She is sweet and tonight will be excellent. Can't wait -- Paul and I will have our first limo ride! We are such bumpkins!

Then we went to Javiar and Susan's and got 4 hugs each from Carlie and 1 from her friend Rachel . Then we got a whippy thing and went to the park to watch the ships, in the dark. Excellent view. Then home to watch both Idols.

By 9 am I was opening windows in here, hot already. Beautiful day. Meeting Sherry in Port A for lunch. Lord, I am going to miss her when we go. We became instant friends. Oh, she won the whole pot at poker night, and I actually won 3 games. First time either of us had won a game.

Sushi Night

Tonight was Sushi night at the Pelican Club. They always have sushi, but tonight it was only sushi, and all you can eat. Paul's first sushi and he liked it and ate it. It was very good. Smoked eel was very good. And two hours later we are still full.

The Weekend So Far, It's Only Sunday

Thursday night we went into Bernies to hear the Port A Rockers play on their last gig in town. Visited with Mary Ann and William and Donna and Kevin. The band was great, as usual.

Friday Sherry and I went to Flour Bluff for mani/pedicures, $30 and fast! Lunch at the China Buffet and shopping at HEB. Practically perfect day. Then we went to the Back Porch to hear Cody and his guys play, stayed to the end. It was a nice night, it is outdoors on the harbor, excellent music, great friends.

Saturday we rested up and then went to a party at Ellen and Kim's house on the beach. They had just finished up the area under the house, the house is on stilts. A nice area, will be cool in the summer, out of the sun. Met her parents, very nice folks. Home to crash.

Latest Fun Stuff

A bit behind on foodie posts. We went to San Juan's for dinner last night with Susan and Javiar and it was great. We went there years ago, and Paul didn't like it so he wouldn't go back. Sigh. It is so good, really. Everything was excellent and tasty and cheap. I had a burrito with the white cheese sauce on it, lots of jalapeno in it. Great refried beans and rice is rice. Paul had a very tasty salad, Susan had a tostada, Javiar had those little roundy roll ups. I ordered a sopapilla - spelled wrong - and it wasn't the tasty little pillow of bread, but it was kick ass all the same, dripping with honey and cinnamon.

Today we took Rick and Joyce and went into Corpus Christi for lunch at the Water Street Market Oyster Bar. Yes, we have pushed out of the box. Paul went on a road trip with the guys on Monday and they went there. With a couple of beers under his belt he handled the seafood easily. But is there anything you can't eat that is pecan breaded and deep fried with a delicious sauce on it? We had the blue crab stuffed mushrooms with an amazing dipping sauce ( it got real spicy about halfway down the throat), pecan crusted oysters, some fish, fried shrimp and also bacon wrapped shrimp. An amazing pink dipping sauce, a salad with walnut dressing (recipe to follow) another fried oyster thing. I am so full I could just nap, like Paul is right behind me.

Joyce ordered a wonderful sounding scallop dish, it didn't get ordered, still didn't get ordered, then it came, then another one came, then she discovered, and we all concurred, that the scallops were tasteless. The waitress agreed. Joyce gave up and sent it back. The manager came out to apologize and said he was going to try it to see what was wrong. Waitress brought us a huge piece, like 3 pieces in one, of the best Key Lime pie I ever tasted. Thanks to Joyce for being the goat instead of me. I always get the lousy meal, and almost ordered it, knew it was too much for me. Joyce, naturally, has been a waitress for probably 40 years.

Anyway, it was fun. We shopped a bit, went to the Surfing Museum, came home. Lovely 80 degree day, just breezy.

Monday we are stretching the box a bit more at the Pelican Club all you can eat Sushi Dinner. And Katie knows how good that is going to be! I will take pictures!

Walnut Dressing

2 Green Onions (Chopped Fine)
1 TSPN Parsley (Minced)
2 Cloves Garlic (Minced)
2 1/2 TSPNS Salt
1/2 TSPN White Pepper
2 TSPNS Paprika
1 TBLSPN Dried Tarragon Leaves
3 TBLSPNS Sugar
1/2 Cup Finely Chopped Walnuts
3 TBLSPNS Tarragon Vinegar
3 1/2 Cups Mayonnaise
3/4 Cup Buttermilk

Combine all ingredients and mix well.; Store in refrigerator.
Will keep 10 days (Makes 1 QT)
