Grandma Weeks's Strawberry Cake

Mom made this cake for special occasions, it is moist and delicious. The frosting is soft and falls off the shoulders of the cake.

Cake:

1 white cake mix
1 small package strawberry gelatin
2 Tablespoons flour
4 eggs, at room temp
1/2 of a 16 oz package of frozen strawberries, thawed
3/4 cup cooking oil

Mix the cake mix, gelatin, flour, eggs and 1/2 cup water together. Beat at medium speed for 2 minutes with mixer. Add the thawed strawberries and syrup to the batter and beat 1 more minute. Add the oil and beat one more minute. Divide batter evenly into two greased and floured 8 or 9 inch pans. Bake in a 350 degree oven for 35 to 40 minutes. Cool on racks for 10 minutes then remove from pans.

Frosting:

1/2 package of sliced frozen strawberries, thawed
1/2 cup soft butter
1 pound powdered sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Thaw the strawberries. Beat the butter until smooth. Add the sugar alternately with the strawberries and syrup and beat until smooth. Add vanilla. If frosting is too thick, thin with a little milk
