Moon Rise
The moon was pink as it rose over the trees, then became more orange. Our weekend was beautiful, humid on Saturday but clear and sunny on Sunday, perfect for swimming! There was a bass tournament too. This morning our resident lunker bass is jumping as usual.

Family Pool Time
Charlie, Andrea, Julia, Ryan and Grandpa Paul at the top.
Ryan and Paul watching Andrea and Charlie
Charlie, Andrea and Marjie top left.
The pool is full of kids and grandparents. Fun and friendly. The water is warm and the sun is bright. Hope to get to the indoor water park yet this week.
We have been hitting Red Mesa hard. Paul and I made it for happy hour today, tried a pulled pork taco. It was great, the cheese is very good, looks like cottage cheese, tasty on a taco. We also had chips and homemade salsa and a pork flauta, with avacado sour cream. Tasted better with the salsa.
Ryan doesn't like Mexican food but loved the steak dish he ordered.

Boyne Mt.
We are up in Boyne until Thursday. The weather is looking a little cloudy and damp, actually better than 90 degrees and sunny. We ate at the Boyne River Inn last night. Paul had fall off the bone ribs and I had chicken artichoke fettuccine, very good. Andrea and Ryan took the kids to a 50s diner in Boyne City. We are going to babysit for them so they can go out alone a few night. They took the kids to the pool last night. We have a great playground here and there is a nice one in Boyne City too.
Larry and Pam are arriving about 11 am today. It will be good to see them. This might be Red Mesa yum!!.
Our condo is right at the bottom of a ski hill. Beautiful wild flowers, will get some pics when the sun comes out. This is a great year for wild flowers in MI.
Not sure if we will take the kids to the water park here. They are pretty little to enjoy much of it. We shall see. For sure we will go to the beach at Deer Lake and walk to Dead Man's Point.

Katie's Lilly
These lilies originally came from Grandma Boehmer's family farm near Posen, MI. She called them Tiger Lilies, they resemble the Michigan Lily, however, the foliage is different and the photo in the book does not show the dots on the lily or the same color.
Katie asked me to dig up this lily from her house in Grand Rapids before it was sold. I will get them to her someday!
Across the road from our house I planted many flowers, , right now the lilies and Phlox are in bloom

Fireworks Friendly!!
While sad to see Jeff's Basswood tree hit the dust during the storm on Sunday, we will now have a much better view of the fireworks from our campfire. That "every cloud has a silver lining" thing. The winds were 40 + mpr, and it poured rain. I watched the wave of water slide down the cottage roof, when it reached the edge of the roof, instead of falling to the ground the wind blew it up and over the roof. Amazing to watch gravity and wind fight it out.
Speaking of wind and gravity, said tree had 3 large roots going sideways instead of down, to the north, east and west. The south lake side had no roots, so over it went.
All the rain has kept the lake algae down and the water is very warm, 85 degrees?? Just walk in and enjoy. Last year we got in the lake 5 times it was so cold. This is much better!

Hot Weekend
I didn't want to put up this frazzled pic of me and Julia, but I actually was there for the weekend. Needed some proof.
Paul and Julia, Happy Birthday Grandpa. It's the big one, the birthday that keeps on giving.
Charlie
Julia, Andrea, Charlie and Steff in the lake
John, Brian and Paul
Brenda opening the gravy fountain, wondering if it will work with vodka.
Julia and Ryan
The 4th of July was just as nice as Memorial Day this summer. Even hotter, the lake packed with boaters torturing small (and large) children by dragging them behind the boat in big tubes. Surely, it must lead to whiplash and bad backs.
We enjoyed camp fires and fire works. Julia and Charlie stayed up on the 4th, Julia said "fireworks" after every boom. She loved it. It was very pretty. Shafley's across the lake shot one into their nice park model trailer. It is good to see that some things never change.
